I don’t usually post other people’s content, but when this article landed in my inbox today, it was exactly what I needed to hear. Stories happen to all of us – God is constantly writing new stories on our hearts and lives every day! – and recognizing what is special about our own lives and stories is so important. One of the things I love about my blog is that it can be a place for me to tell stories because they make me excited and they mean a lot to me – not to get views or meet someone else’s expectations. I love this article – definitely sums up some of the ways my stories and the way I think about my life makes me a new romantic.
I recently told a friend of mine — a single mom who works in the healthcare industry — that she should write a blog about her amazing life. Her response to me was, “It’d be the most boring blog in the world. I’m nothing special.” That’s a direct quote. Nothing special? She’s raising three kids on her own, works in an ER in a massive city hospital, speaks three languages, and she studied opera in college. If she’s not special, I don’t know who is.
Her response really surprised me, and it reminded me of someone from my past who was the flip side of the self-confidence coin.
